An excellent read with great suggestions for moving through the grieving process in a healthy manner. This book came recommended to me and I, in turn, have referred it to other friends that have lost a loved one.

I thought the book was well written and the layout was good. However, I found the subject matter too general. It covered several topics superficially. I would of preferred less sub-topics and deeper reasoning of the ones included. A paragraph or two is not enough detail to be very helpfull.

If you've lost someone close to you and you've been reaching out for something, anything to help you to understand the process that is grieving... you've found the right book! It's logical and easy to read. It makes recommendations on how to get through the day-to-day process. It comforts, gives direction, and validates. I love this book!

I first saw this book at my library and checked it out. I decided to buy this book because it doesn't just talk about the grieving process, it also talks about psychotherapy as well. It mentions many ways to deal with grieving....i.e. surrounding one's self with understanding and caring people, to keeping busy such as taking up a hobby or working on your talent. It also mentions that your loved one is on 'the other side' and how they can hear you. I find that this book brings comfort to people who have dealt with a loss. A+++++!!!

The underlying foundation for the remaining suggestions for dealing with grief are given to the reader in the first three chapters. The rest of the suggestions are worth consideration by the person experiencing grief. It is as the author says, 101 actions and attitudes a person can take to move from the shock of grief and loss closer to resolution. When one first experiences grief there is shock, and numbness. The suggestions are like life jackets of which one may hold onto in this very rough sea of life. I also found it to be very helpful after grief had subsided in intensity to go back to the book and read it again. The suggestions gain new meaning after the cloud of grief has begun to lift. You notice things that are helpful you missed the first time

I am writing this review because I've found it so helpful, and with only one review currently on Amazon, it would be a shame for it to be overlooked. I checked it out first from the library for my kindle because of its description and availability. I wound up checking it out twice and have read it in its entirely probably twice at least, some parts more. I have purchased and read other books on grief and on helping other specific family through grief, and this book has still been the best combination for me. I purchased it on Amazon today because at the two-month mark, it has been such a solace that I want it permanently available rather than on loan through the library. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in reading more than a few pages at a time and who processes and relates to situations more through reading and reflection.

My parents died a year apart, in 2009 and 2010. I had been struggling to cope and come to terms with my loss. This book has helped immensely. It explains (in clear and straightforward fashion) just how different people may grieve in myriad ways. I am not alone. Nor am I abnormal.

I will be using this book as part of a book study on grief during the holidays. Gives some good advice on how to begin working through issues of grief and loss.
