Incredible world-building, amazing characters that will touch your heart. Mix love, magic,angst, mystery, hope, fantasy with lots of twists and turns and you have this incredible story-line filled with characters you want as your friends. I love a world where sphinx, minotaur, hijinx, seahorses and so much more live and thrive together in this wonderful town.Cody and Quellin are combustible! Cody's grief and his innocence contrast Quellin's dark and dangerous persona. i loved these characters together! Maz Maddox has created a very special place in the universe with The Stallion Ridge series and i cannot wait for the next book!
Cody is a deputy in Stallion Ridge, mourning the loss of his friend Wade. Still unable to accept that he is also a very large snake. Then he meets Quellin, Wade’s brother and a Widow (your basic assassin) and also what I take to be a Merman. Cody is trying to find who killed Wade, while trying to adjust to his new snake abilities. Then there’s Quellin, a beautiful, distracting knot tying man who is temporarily living with him.The residents of Stallion Ridge just keep getting more interesting (mythical?). Very likable characters and suitably nasty bad guys. I have enjoyed this series a lot and would recommend that the other books are read first.
A wonderful and fishy tale, some angst and ale. A seahorses and sphinx, a minotaur and hijinx. A Widow with a battle, a cowboy with a rattle. I need book four.
This world sucks you in so deep, the vivid characters become your friends and you just want to stay immersed. Please can we have some more!
I love this series! ðŸ˜I think Cody and Quellin might possibly be my favorite couple so farThe Stallion Ridge series is a magical blend of fantasy, the old west, mystery, and suspense all wrapped up in the sweetest of love stories - It marks ✔all the right boxes for me.I think Cody has always held my heart. He is innocence personified - despite his own sad past he still looks for the good in everyone and boy does he have a curious streak.We picked up pretty much where book 2 left off - Cody is still trying to come to terms with the "gift" he acquired as well as the guilt he feels regarding his friend's death. With the murderer still on the loose, a specialist is brought in to assist the sheriff.Enter Quellin - tall dark and yummmm - need I say more? Quell finds himself enamored by Colts youth and innocence - knowing he shouldn't indulge but unable to resist a sample Quell finds himself in a tough spot. He has commitments and his position does not allow for a happy ever after. Wanting and Knowing are two very different things.This story had me laughing, holding my breath, wiping those silent tears and releasing the occasional 'awwww'What are you waiting for? Go on and get yourself over to Stallion Ridge!Oh and before I go"Make mamma Scarlet proud"
Received ARC from the author in exchange for an honest reviewI think this is the most deeply emotional story of the series so far. Not that the others aren't, but from the very beginning you're immediately in your feels over the fallout from the death of the character. Cody is traumatized and heartbroken, and fighting a new aspect of himself. Quellin is a mysterious guy sent to solve the crime, and we learn he has his own ties to the case. I actually wish that had been explored more. I really enjoyed them together though. I keep saying this in each review for this series, but the relationship dynamic between all three couples is so different from each other. I really give credit to the author for doing that. It keeps each book fresh. I love that we keep learning more about the characters we already know and love. I really enjoy the creatures in this world. Onto the mystery, this book resolves some of the dangling threads from the previous books. I'll be honest, I called the bad guy in book 2? maybe book 1? whenever he was introduced. However, there IS a twist with it that I did not predict so that's good. I hope there's more books to come. I have a list of things I'm still interested in having answers about or seeing more in depth.
I loved this story. I think this might be my favorite of the series. I loved the chemistry between Cody and Quellin.Cody feels so deeply about the people he has lost in his life. He really does need something or someone to hold on to. He's holding himself together after the most recent loss, but with the other added newness in his life, he is coming apart. I like that he has to learn to accept himself in all facets. He explores, grows, and heals in front of our eyes and it is great.Quellin works alone and I get the feeling that he has accepted that as his lot in life and form connections due to the nature of his job. I have to say, for a standoffish man, he is wonderful and warm. He is both cold and caring. I love his exploration with Cody and seeing his reaction too having someone watch his back is warming.These two guys hold your attention and give you so many feelings. I want more time with them and too see more thread. I can't wait to see what happens in the next story.I received an ARC of this book from LesCourt Author Services.
