Love that it was written by kids- they did a great job. My daughter often has to find other resources to fill in key information however. That's my only complaint, it's a nice ADJUNCT resource, but they will need others to get state report-type information.
Very easy to understand and get involved for my 5yr old. She loves it and is starting to learn more and more every week about this great country. (MAGA). I was skeptical at firs,t buying it online bc of some previous reviews but ours showed up in mint condition, on time, no complaints. Very much recommend and would buy again if need be.
I bought this book - along with a Melissa and Doug United States puzzle - to use with my daughter, who I'm homeschooling for Kindergarten. We're reading about 5 or 6 states each week. Some of the information is above her head, but most of it holds her interest. I mainly just want to get her familiar with the names of the states, and we'll go through this book again in a couple of years. This is not an in-depth study of the states, but if you want to learn a little about each state in a fun way, this is perfect.
The book is great- too bad no one bothered to check to see if the words would be cut off when they hard bound it. On many pages I can barely see the words- I have to pull the book apart as hard as I can- disappointing!
My 8 year old loves the "Smart About The..." series. The information in all of these is short and sweet, so that she learns a lot without getting bored or bogged down with details that she won't retain at this age.
What a great book. I homeschool and I was looking for something with information on each state. The information and illustrations are interesting. My 10 year old son enjoyed reading it......and that does not always happen :). Very pleased with this purchase.
My seven year old keeps this book in the car and reads a bit here and there while we're driving around or on road trips. Since getting this book for Christmas a couple of months ago his knowledge of the U.S. and his understanding of states has increased. This book is easy and fun to read, and is perfect for young kids who are starting to learn about geography and the U.S.
My daughter has to memorize the states and the capitals, which is just not a fun task. I bought this book to help make it more interesting for her. She loves the book and wants to read about each state before working on trying to memorize.
