Darrin Cook's "Essential Kabaroan: IIocano Long Stick Eskrima" is a must have resource. My teacher GM Raymond Tobosa, was friends with GM Estalilla whom I was fortunate to meet in the mid 1980's. I am now fortunate to know his student Darrin. Darrin achieved instructor level under GM Estalilla and he knows what he is speaking about. This book is a brief look into a unique and valuable system of Filipino martial arts. While I would differ some in my approach or tactics, I find what Darrin has related here to be of great value to the FMA community. I highly recommend this book.Maestro Michael M.
Darrin Cook brings to you a wealth of information in his "Essential Kabaroan" preserving stories his Master shared with him as well as the culture of the art as he learned it. I found it a great addition to my knowledge of the Kabaroan style. The information presented is worth a lot more than he is asking. A gem of a book!
Great book in describing the basics of this style of Eskrima. Wish it had more pictures to show case the descriptions of techniques. Would like to learn more. Thank you for sharing your art.
